HP-CPN CentreSize: 45 man-years; $ 3,500,000
The Centre focuses on the application of Coloured Petri Nets (CP-nets or CPN) for analysis of systems. The work is organised as a number of projects in which CP-nets are used for modelling, validation and/or capacity planning of systems. A typical project runs for 6-12 months and cooperate with an ongoing HP activity. A project could, e.g., be the design and validation of the communication patterns in a new system, or it could be capacity planning of a system. The longer projects are divided into a number of subprojects with intermediate milestones and deliverables. Usually, there are one or two main projects running at a time. In addition another project may be in the preparation/start phase. The individual projects are defined shortly before their start. This is necessary in order to integrate the projects with the most suitable activities within Hewlett-Packard. The first projects will be selected within some of the following areas:
